Don't use deodorant. The area around the vaginal opening, the vulva, is made of very delicate and sensitive tissue. Antiperspirants and deodorants may work for the armpits, but they can cause more than a small amount of damage below the belt. Apply the deodorant to the groin crease.
If you use it on the vulva, use it as little as possible and keep it only on the outside, never on the inner lips, Lincoln says. And never put any deodorizing or cleansing products (also known as vaginal douches) inside your vagina. Some deodorants marketed as “natural” ingredients, such as baking soda, activated charcoal and tea tree oil, for their antimicrobial and deodorizing properties. Deodorants marketed for use on genital areas are especially problematic because, while armpit deodorants are sold to everyone, most products intended for private parts are largely aimed at women.
